Cynthia Jurs, summiteer and founding member of the Earth Treasure Vase Global Healing Project, shares the healing journey of the Findhorn Earth Treasure Vase one year on from Findhorn’s New Story Summit….
Twenty-five years ago I initiated the Earth Treasure Vase Global Healing Project, after receiving the teaching from a 106-year-old Lama living in a remote cave in Nepal. As I have traveled around the world with this practice it has evolved into a relevant ceremony for diverse cultures and communities and a powerful vehicle for catalyzing actions to realize our collective dreams of a new story for life on Earth. Thirty Earth Treasure Vases (ETVs) have been planted to create a global mandala of healing, protection and renewal of the Earth. Now the second generation of vases is beginning to go out as local ETV stewards engage in this healing practice and steward vases to be planted in their own lands.
Last year I brought an ETV to the New Story Summit at Findhorn. A number of us met in ceremony during that time to direct our intentions into the little clay pot on behalf of the whole community as an offering.
Over the last year we have seen the Findhorn ETV to embody three primary purposes:
- Honoring and anchoring the healing knowledge of the Findhorn Community in a global mandala of healing for the Earth.
Being a seed for the best of the old and new stories coming through the New Story Summit for our times.
Serving as a vessel for healing the legacy of the persecution of “witches” of former times, better known as healers, in Scotland — and everywhere.
Sharon Shay Sloan was present at the gathering and unexpectedly received a powerful call to heal the legacy of the persecution of the healers of former times that happened near Findhorn. During a full group council she experienced that the land where some of this persecution took place was asking for a healing process to occur; she spoke this to the room. She writes….
“To hear this story was moving for many and through consultation and conversation with a number of the ceremonial leaders present onsite, it was determined that the Earth Treasure Vase that Cynthia had brought as an offering to the Summit (at the invitation of New Story Summit co-organizer Gigi Coyle), would become the vessel for completing this prayer.
“At the end of the Summit I made a commitment to return to Findhorn to participate in the final burial of the ETV in honor of this powerful call of healing that came to me. Since then, I have worked closely with Cynthia in the US and two elders from the Findhorn Community, Dürten Lau and Craig Gibsone, and long-time resident Sara Trevelyan, who were entrusted with stewarding the vase in Findhorn. We have all meditated in ceremony with the ETV either in person or from afar, and convened with others at the full moons and other times, keeping our prayers alive, inviting others into ceremony with us and gathering many offerings for the ETV. During the full moon meditation in September, it became clear that the vase is nearing completion and will be ready to be planted in the original garden at Findhorn on the next Full Moon on October 27th, 2015.”
Weaving Prayers at Findhorn into the ETV Mandala
Although Findhorn embodies so much of what we envision for a new story, the call for healing that this vase is carrying is a collective wound felt all over the world in various ways – and with the second generation of ETVs being woven into the global mandala in the last year since the Summit, a common thread is emerging.
The first of the second generation of Earth Treasure Vases was planted in June at Gabarnmung, in Northern Australia’s Arnhem Land where a very ancient story is coming to light. This 50,000-year-old newly “discovered” sacred site is covered with rock art that brings a timeless awareness of the Aboriginal dreamtime into the songlines of the ETV Mandala and reconnects us to the wisdom of the ancestors and those who lived harmoniously in intimate connection to the Earth for miillennia – and whose stories are more relevant today than ever before.
The thread continues with the second ETV to be brought into the global mandala of healing, protection and renewal for the Earth which was activated in Canada during the Truth and Reconciliation Hearings as the suffering of Indigenous First Nations Peoples was brought to public awareness – the residential schools and systematic genocide of Native Canadians mirroring what occurred in Aboriginal Australia and the US, and in other ways, all around the world.
The third ETV of the next generation of vases is carrying a strongly related prayer. The very ground surrounding Findhorn – which is such a beautiful example of intentional community with miraculous gardens offering healing to the world – this same land, centuries ago was the place where healers, midwives, diviners and seers, were persecuted, tortured and burned at the stake as “witches”. This history, especially for western women, is an unhealed collective wound we still carry and resonates deeply with the suffering of indigenous peoples worldwide, as colonialism and the Church inflicted their dominance all over the Earth.
Ceremonial Planting of Findhorn ETV in the Original Garden with Global Meditation via live video streaming
So, on behalf of restoring harmonious relations with Mother Gaia, ceremonially addressing the torturous murder of healers and the revitalization of community in the lands we inhabit, may we listen to the ancestors speaking through the rocks and rivers and hills around us in all these places….and plant this next ETV in the original garden at Findhorn where the Spirits of that land came alive in a magical response to an invitation made many years ago.
The Earth Treasure Vase will be filled with offerings in ceremonies on Cluny Hill and at The Park in Findhorn, then planted in the original garden celebrating the one-year anniversary of the New Story Summit on the October Full Moon, Tuesday, October 27th, 2015, exact time TBD. You are invited to join in meditation, prayer and solidarity from wherever you are – or come to Findhorn if you are in the area.
In preparation for the burial, we will hold a synchronized Full Moon ETV Meditation via Zoom video conference call technology on Monday, October 26th, at 7:30 pm at Findhorn (3:30 pm ET / 1:30 pm MT / 12:30 am PT).
We want to encourage members of the New Story Summit and Findhorn Community to join the ETV Stewards in a final meditation to add your prayers as an offering for this land.
