Grief and Carbon Reductionism | Charles Eisenstein

6 February 2016 Leave a Comment

"Here is what I want everyone in the climate change movement to hear: People are not going to be frightened into caring. Scientific evidence-based predictions about what will happen 10, 20, or 50 years in the future are not going to make them care, not enough. What we need is the level of activism and energy that we are seeing now in Flint. That requires making it personal. And that requires facing the reality of loss. And that requires experiencing grief. There is no other way. "I am grateful … Continue reading

New Story Film Trailer

4 February 2016 Leave a Comment

We are delighted to announce the production of our New Story film, inspired by the New Story Summit at the Findhorn Foundation: a sold-out multicultural, multigenerational enquiry into a new story for humanity, attended by change makers and activists from over 50 countries. A number of professional filmmakers gifted their skills during the summit and conducted a series of interviews with key speakers, each carrying a thread of the new story. This feature length film brings together excerpts from some of these inspiring interviews, along with key moments from the summit itself. It is intended as a tool to inspire and inform, to foster further enquiry, and to serve as a call to action in service to a better world. Watch video

Humanity’s beauty as seen through the lens of a high school student

3 February 2016 Leave a Comment

High school student, Shea Glover, shares the moving and revealing results of her integrative arts project.... "I conducted an independent project, which evidently turned into a social experiment halfway through, regarding beauty at my performing arts high school in Chicago. I want to clarify that my intentions were not to get a reaction out of people. I was simply filming beauty and this is the result. "There is so much beauty in the world.... if you blink, you'll miss it." #breathebeauty Watch video

The world’s most cutting-edge renewable tech is powering rural Africa

31 January 2016 Leave a Comment

"Distributed power — where electricity is generated locally, instead of delivered via complex grid infrastructure — makes lots of sense for Africa. "Azuri has installed about 60,000 systems so far in Tanzania, Kenya, Ethiopia, Uganda, Sierra Leone and others. In November, it was recognized by the UN as one of 16 companies genuinely making a difference in the quest to halt climate change. "Compare these state-of-the art systems to the often arduous process of getting solar panels installed on a … Continue reading

They Sang with a Thousand Tongues: The Poetry of Diversity | Bayo Akomolafe

28 January 2016 Leave a Comment

"Might I venture to say that our most compelling imperative today — if one is permitted to speak in those ways — is to reclaim the thickness of our tongues and learn the names and faces of our neighbours; it is to realize that our worldview is just a tittle in a never-ending sentence; it is to see that there are more ways to learn than school and polished degrees could ever accommodate and more ways to live than could be captured in a Facebook post. The imperative is to recognize that our … Continue reading

These Labels were Made Up to Divide us. "The world is fine and always will be, it’s the people that create labels and divide us up. If these labels can be removed, we will see world peace for the first time and hatred will be a thing of the past." Prince Ea Watch video

The Story of How Humanity Fell in Love with Itself Once Again by Lyla June Johnston

25 January 2016 Leave a Comment

"I spend a lot of time honoring and calling upon my Native American ancestors. I am keenly aware that my father's people hold a venerable medicine as well. He has ancestry from the Great Sacred Motherland of Europe. "I have been called a half breed. I have been called a mutt. Impure. I have been told my mixed blood is my bane. That I'm cursed to have an Indian for a mother and a cowboy for a father. "But one day, as I sat in the ceremonial house of my mother's people, a wondrous revelation … Continue reading
