An Enquiry into A New Story for Humanity: Change the Story, Change the World premiered 30 April 2016 to a packed Universal Hall in Findhorn, Scotland, and was live streamed to many more individuals and community interest groups in 68 countries, with thousands watching in their various time zones in the days that followed.
All were joining a wave of collaboration as we seek to enquire together into a new story for humanity.
Collaboration is not about gluing together existing egos. It’s about the ideas that never existed until after everyone entered the room.
The film is now available with French subtitles and, over the coming months, is set to be translated into Chinese, Danish, German, Hungarian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Spanish and Turkish, with many other foreign language translations to follow.
Film Now Available for On Demand Viewing
The film is now available for on demand viewing of either the full Premiere or just the film itself.
The Foundation’s first feature length documentary film was inspired by its hugely successful 2014 New Story Summit: a sold out, multicultural, multigenerational enquiry into a new story for humanity, attended by change makers and activists from over 50 countries.
The film has garnered even more support than the summit itself due to its appeal on a global level. Film director and producer, Mattie Porte, explains why, “There’s a grassroots dialogue taking place all over the world and this film is a snapshot of the thinking and consciousness needed to co-create a regenerative planet for our children and our children’s children.
“The strength of the film lies in its holistic and inclusive exploration into the stories that shape us as humanity and compel us to create the positive change we want to see in our world: an empowering counterpoint to the stories of hopelessness and despair we see in the news every day.”
The film brings together excerpts from interviews with compelling speakers, each carrying a thread of this new story, along with key moments from the summit itself, and addresses the essential topics of our time: from cosmology to ecology, from ancient wisdom to current thinking, from leadership to governance, from economy to social justice, from education to initiation, and from community living to sustainable, regenerative society. It features Satish Kumar, David Korten, Elisabet Sahtouris, Charles Eisenstein, Polly Higgins and many more inspiring thought leaders and change makers.
Foundation Chair Camilla Bredal Pedersen noted, “Our intent is that the film be shared as a tool to inspire and inform, to foster further enquiry, and to serve as a call to action in service to a better world. In fact, this has been the ongoing work of the Foundation for 54 years. We are therefore thrilled with the reception to the film.”
Produced entirely on the basis of gift economy through the generous contributions of so many, this in turn has enabled the Foundation to offer the film as a gift. The intent is that the film be seen by as many people around the world as possible without it being cost-prohibitive.
Whilst we all know that a film alone cannot change the world, the inspiration of visionaries and thought leaders, who are already engaged change makers, can compel us to take action in our own lives and communities. This experience also affirms that we are a huge family of change makers, each carrying a thread of the new story. Group screenings followed by post-film discussion are encouraged as a way to bring people together to start conversations that lead to inspired action. The convergence of multiple crises we face on the planet requires collective solutions, and it is by gathering and working together in groups to dream into a new story for humanity, that change will happen. By bringing your community together at a film screening, you become part of a growing, global movement of change makers. Hosting tips are available on the New Story Film Microsite. If you know anyone who may like to screen the film for a large group, please ask them to get in touch.

Please continue to spread the word
The Premiere simply represents the launch of the film. Please do continue to share the trailer and the link to more about the film to ensure its usefulness lives long into the future.
Foundation’s next steps in accelerating the New Story
The New Story team at Findhorn is now embarking on elaborating the key themes in the film through the development of webinars and programmes in partnership with Hawkwood College and Emerson College in the UK and many others. And, of course, the film will continue to be used as a tool for further enquiry, engagement and inspired action.
Summarising the essence of the film and its potential, Mattie Porte said, “Captured through the lens of both our frailty and our wisdom, our pain and our joy, this enquiry into a new story for humanity offers a gateway into the evolutionary consciousness that will propel us as a species to recognise and embody our interdependence in harmony with the planet and in partnership with all life. Imagine having the power to change the story, and with this awareness, change the world!”
