Robert Radford shares his story one year on from Findhorn’s New Story Summit….
With the help of the writings of people like Bruce Lipton and Charles Eisenstein over the past year, my insights and experiences in the New Story have created unbelievable growth in my peace, happiness and satisfaction with life. The positive and constructive responses which I get from people with whom I discuss the concepts of the New Story are very rewarding and reassuring.
My New Story started when I first visited the Findhorn Community and was introduced to the exchanges of information and influence with trees, plants, animals and other people, without the use of my physical senses of hearing, seeing, smelling, tasting and touching. Many experiences of this nature since then have helped me to finally realize that the New Story includes awareness of some primal senses which we all unconsciously use all of the time. It reminds me of the story of Newton developing the Universal Law of Gravity after observing an apple fall out of a tree. Since time immemorial people had been observing and experiencing the effects of gravity, but it wasn’t until Newton gave it a name that people started to knowledgeably and intentionally use gravity. Maybe it is time for people to become aware of and to knowledgeably and intentionally use the primal senses which are part of all living entities.
Recently, a discussion group in our local community raised my hopes for the future of human beings by being open and receptive to my discourse on “Common Senses”:
Primal (Innate) Senses:
- Thinking: Imperiencing thoughts
Imagining: Imperiencing images
Feeling: Imperiencing emotions
(“Imperiencing” is a word coined by those with the non-duality concept. I first read it in a book published in 1936.)
Supplemental (Physical) Senses:
- Hearing: Experiencing sound
Seeing: Experiencing light and colour
Smelling: Experiencing smell
Tasting: Experiencing taste
Touching: Experiencing texture and temperature
My experiences with primal senses have indicated to me that they are not limited by space and time:
- From a distance of 50 miles, I “saw” my naked daughter and her boyfriend in intimate detail on the pull-out bed in the family room of our home. (I drove to our home and verified the vision.)
While walking through a sheep-pasture near Avebury, my life-partner and I were, at the same time, walking through a village about 5,000 years ago, meeting the people and being invited into their homes. (My partner and I were both experiencing the same things. The villagers treated us like long-absent village members.)
My experiences with primal senses have included feelings of bliss, happiness and fulfilment. There have been no feelings of right or wrong, good or bad, evil or righteous. All of my experiences have been gifts. There have been no anticipations or expectations. My attitude was just one of fearless openness and receptivity to uncommon events.
