Contemporary spiritual teacher, Thomas Hübl, launches a new meditation practice to cultivate world citizenship in the spirit of Global Social Witnessing….
“We’d like to invite you to a new meditation practice that was introduced at this year’s Celebrate Life Festival. ‘5 Minutes a Day’ contemplates a current news item: the practice is meant to playfully integrate into everyday meditation practice in a holistic way via news items from multiple sources.
“Many of us feel overwhelmed by the news of executions in Syria, the desperation of refugees, or data theft online, and we tend to ignore news or deal with it only rationally. We often block emotional and physical reactions completely….
“With this new practice we’d like to create new We-spaces to become more responsible global citizens. ‘5 Minutes a Day’ invites Global Social Witnessing. It invites us to mirror global events within us and to create an inner world space that may lead us to live more responsible and connected lives. (Only engage with this practice if you feel stable and ready to welcome discomforting headlines.)
“Together with a small curatorial team, Thomas launched a website for ‘5 Minutes a Day’ (‘5MaD’) which posts headlines suitable for contemplation several times per week.
“We’d be delighted if you integrated ‘5MaD’ into your daily meditation practice! Just click ‘follow’ on the top right corner of the Medium website and the current news items will arrive in your inbox. The more followers the new website gets the more prominently our site will be distributed across the Medium platform. Please share your experiences by leaving a comment on Medium, or on Facebook and Twitter where the headlines are also published. We’re open to all suggestions or topics to be included.”
