Dr. Karambu Ringera, founder and executive director of International Peace Initiatives, works with women in Kenya who have HIV and AIDS as well as children who have lost their parents to the disease. Through her work she has realised that the situations and circumstances that we perceive as problems are actually opportunities to remember our power, to remember who we are, and to remember why we are here. She believes that every one of us has the chance to make a difference in the world. There is no excuse. Every new story comes with new nuances and the chance to reclaim our divinity. Transformation is not about the work that we do alone but that which we do together. We are the hope that we have been looking for.
“There’s no road ahead. We make the road as we go. The clue of the beginning of the road is more often not discovered until near the end. Maybe the journey is not so much a journey ahead but a journey of presence – the farthest journey into the presence of the person nearest to you.”
Karambu was filmed at the New Story Summit: Inspiring Pathways for our Planetary Future, which took place at the Findhorn Foundation and Community in Scotland in September 2014.
