Circular economy could bring 70 percent cut in carbon emissions by 2030

29 April 2015 Leave a Comment

"Odds are, your mobile phone is less than two years old. Today’s economy is built on a “fast turnover” principle. The faster we replace our gadgets the better – not only our phones, but most items we consume. "This leads to a staggering inefficiency in the way we manage the Earth’s resources, with increased pollution, loss of ecosystems and substantial losses of value with each product disposed. A new study club of rome circular economy from The Club of Rome, a global thinktank, highlights that … Continue reading

Better, Not More is a short film from EDGE Funders Alliance: Engaged Donors for Global Equity, who are amplifying the Justice Funders movement for a Just Transition to a collaborative economy.... "As we assess the current state of our world and consider together the elements that are essential to a ‘just transition’, and ultimately, a just economy, we are called to consider four goals: to decommodify nature, reimagine work, liberate knowledge and democratize wealth. These are interrelated, … Watch video

“We, the uncivilised, are claiming the right to write our own story. We are digging up the stories of our soil: • we seek stories to inspire • we seek stories to unite • we seek stories to rouse the heart, and activate the soul.” Wetheuncivilised, A Life Story is a grassroots documentary film project by Pete and Lily Sequoia. The film is their response to the story of civilisation. It seeks to challenge and bring into question the ‘civilised’ structures that create oppression, inequality and … Watch video

Five Movements Igniting Change for the Earth

27 April 2015 Leave a Comment

"We live in a time of rapid transformation. Some say we are on the verge of a great shift in human consciousness. Growing numbers of people are looking at the way they live, the way humans operate on the planet, and deciding that we must change our course. "Once a paradigm has shifted, there is no going back. We emerge on the other side with a completely renewed perspective, unable to return to our old way of thinking. Many great movements have emerged in recent years, pushing us to leave … Continue reading

Beyond capitalism and socialism: could a new economic approach save the planet?

25 April 2015 Leave a Comment

"A holistic approach to the economy is necessary to avoid social, environmental and economic collapse, according to a new report by the Capital Institute. "To avoid social, environmental and economic collapse, the world needs to move beyond the standard choices of capitalism or socialism. That’s the conclusion of a new report released Wednesday by US think tank Capital Institute. "The non-partisan think tank argues that both systems are unsustainable, even if flawlessly executed, and that … Continue reading

David Spangler: The Subtle Worlds and the New Story

24 April 2015 Leave a Comment

David Spangler, spiritual teacher and long-time friend and mentor of Findhorn, addresses the need for a new story of the subtle worlds and also for story itself. David has been communicating with the subtle worlds for nearly 70 years and sees the collaborative partnership between humans and the denizens of the subtle worlds as an integral part of both the planetary story and the new story for which we search. He refers to the subtle worlds as Earth's Second Ecology and sees this realm as a … Watch video

Capitalism Is Just a Story – Rise Up and Create a New One

"How many of us have a sneaking suspicion that something pretty fundamental is going wrong in the world? We keep hearing about the potentially devastating consequences of climate change but we are pumping more carbon dioxide into the atmosphere every single year. We are forced into economic crisis after economic crisis and the only people who aren’t brought to their knees are those that cause it. In fact, they often just get richer and more powerful while the rest of us work harder and harder … Watch video

Changing The Story

22 April 2015 Leave a Comment

“The only way to change the world is to change the story. And many of us now long for a new story, one that will restore to the earth its lost divinity and reconnect our souls to the sacred within creation, a story that will save our planet. Some have even already begun to articulate such a story: a beautiful and compelling vision of the entire universe as a single, inextricably interconnected, living whole, offering a dimension of meaning to our individual daily lives that arises from an … Continue reading

Agroecology: A New Story for a New Age

21 April 2015 1 Comment

"We are faced with two choices. The first is to continue our conventional agricultural practices that will ensure agriculture remains a large piece of the climate change problem. The other is begin to explore and implement agroecological practices that can turn agriculture into part of the solution. Surely, the choice is easy. We live in a time of great change and people are beginning to see through the propaganda of the system. It is no accident that agroecology is becoming a powerful new story … Continue reading
